The drug Methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice”, is a rapidly growing epidemic in this nation (including Far North Queensland), causing widespread destruction of lives, families and communities.

The Combined Rotary Clubs of Cairns support the Australian Anti Ice Campaign (AAIC), a Not-For-Profit Charity that is dedicated to raising awareness among the Australian community, especially our youth, as to the incredible dangers of using Ice.

The aims of the “Walk Against Ice” are to:
1. raise public awareness of the dangers of using Ice,
2. encourage families and individuals struggling with Ice addiction to come forward to seek help, and
3. raise money to help fund workshops at high schools in the Cairns area. These workshops are delivered by trained Presenters, each of whom have recovered from ice addiction, to give students a radical awakening as to the incredible dangers of trying Ice, even once.

The event is on Sunday 15 September along the Cairns Esplanade, starting and finishing at Fogarty Park.

Adults $10, Kids & Pensioners $5, Families $30 and includes a sausage sizzle at the end of the walk.
